About the artist
At The Art Students League, Ann Barber studied figurative and portrait painting with Mary Beth McKenazie and has developed a style of simple shapes and complementary colors with an eye for composition.  Her en plein air landscapes also express space composition.  Tutored by Ephraim Rubenstein, her landscapes infuse an atmospheric approach to add clues about the time of day and season of the year.  She performed independent studies in gross anatomy and dissection at Duke University Medical Center.
Born in Washington, DC.  Raised in the New York City metropolitan area.  Studied oil painting at The Art Students League in New York City and at the Studio Art Centers International in Florence, Italy.  Living in Manhattan.
This art originated in New York City.   Its purpose is to see the subtle emotional experiences of every day life.  This is fulfilled by shapes, perspective, shadows, and especially color.
"Art for the sake of the true, art for the sake of the good and the beautiful, that is the faith I am searching for." George Sand 1872
